Sony Xperia J has been announced and is available for sale in India at the price 16490 INR; it is going to replace mid-range phones like Sony Ericson Xperia Neo V and Sony Ericson Xperia Neo L.
But does Sony Xperia J have it all to replace the Sony Ericson Xperia Neo V and Sony Ericson Xperia Neo L, read the article to find out
Sony Xperia J is a Midrange Android Smartphone, powered by 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon Cortex-A5 processor with Android 200 GPU of which both seems to be less powerful than the processor and GPU of Sony Ericson Xperia Neo V and Sony Ericson Xperia Neo L, it simply doesn’t make sense to launch a newer with weaker processor. But that is the industry works.
Sony Xperia J features Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich with planned upgrade to android 4.2 sometime later in this year. Software wise this phone is an A+, as it is already running a very good OS, with planned to upgrade to better OS being available later.
Sony Xperia J display is a 4 inch touch screen capacitive protected by Corning Gorilla Glass with 480×854 pixel resolution, giving the Sony Xperia J PPI of 245 which is decent to look at. Moreover just like any other Sony phone it is also powered by Sony mobile Bravia engine display technology which produces sharper images and clear display.
Sony Xperia J has 4 GB on internal memory, of which 2 GB is available to user, with 512 MB ram to process applications and games; the internal memory can be further extended up to 32 GB using the SD memory card slot.
Sony Xperia J Camera is of 5MP Autofocus loaded with LED flash with features such as Geo-tagging, touch focus, image stabilization, it also has a front VGA camera, unfortunately both the camera record in VGA quality only, that’s the disgrace considering 5MP camera on the back.
Sony Xperia J connectivity features includes WI-FI, 3G, Bluetooth, A-GPS, DLNA and connecters Include 3.5 mm Audio Jack, microUSB v2.0,
Sony Xperia J Sensors includes Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer, Compass, Magnetometer Sensor.
Overall it is a good phone with certain problems, but the real problem is with Sony, who simply want to launch more phones with only Sony Brands, wanting to clear out Sony-Ericson branded phone, and in a hurry, Sony is launching Handicapped Smartphone’s, with certain essential features missing here and there. For example read this
- Sony Xperia U has no Expandable memory card slot.
- Sony Xperia Sola has no Front Camera.
- Sony Xperia J Records in VGA Quality.
Whatever at least with Sony Xperia J Sony is getting the basic specs right, maybe they enable the HD recording capability in Future update.
Sony Xperia J is priced at 16490 INR and available for purchase at online and retails stores.
