Android Ice Cream Sandwich with its launch had brought in many features which were definitely not available in the previous versions. It is also the best version out of all the versions of Android that came out. ICS has got major changes from every perspective, if we talk only ICS and not Jelly Bean. The User Interface, performance, features and much more changes were noticed. One of the features that Google introduced with Android 4.0 ICS was Wi-Fi Direct. Now you must be wondering what is Wi-Fi direct. Let me explain something about it to you.
What is Wi-Fi Direct?
Wi-Fi Direct is a wireless file sharing feature which Google introduced with the launch of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It allows users to share files using Wi-Fi in a very easy manner. Just imagine how we share files using Bluetooth. Wi-Fi Direct does the same and that too at a very high speed. But both the devices need to have Wi-Fi direct. And files can be easily and at rapid speed can be transferred between two Android devices.
What is WiFi shoot and what it does?
WiFi Shoot is a new Android application which does a job of utilizing this feature called Wi-Fi direct in Android. This is the only app that uses Wi-Fi direct for sharing photos and Videos wirelessly. Two devices with the feature of Wi-Fi direct can transfer files between them at a very high speed using WiFi Shoot.
How to transfer Photos and Videos using WiFi Shoot?
Using Wifi Shoot for Android is a very easy task. Simply after installing the app it gets integrated with the share menu. Now if you want to transfer any Photo or Video to another Wi-Fi direct enabled Android device which has WiFi Shoot installed. Navigate to the Video or File you want to send in the gallery. And from the Share menu, select WiFi Shoot as a sharing medium. Of course you also need to enable Wi-Fi before sending. If it is not enabled, at the time of sharing you will be prompted to do so. Both the devices will be paired and after that Videos and Photos can be transferred easily. The receiver gets a pop up and the SHOOT button will then accept the incoming photo or video.
Is WiFi Shoot fully functional?
Well WiFi Shoot for Android does the job it is meant for pretty well. But still you cannot expect it to be at its peak since the app is in beta mode and improvements are definitely expected. Below video shows WiFi Shoot in action. Also the app can transfer on Photos and Videos. This means you cannot share any other file type. And it also works locally, means files on your device only can be transferred not on any cloud server.
WiFi Shoot is available in the Google Play Store for free and can be downloaded right away. It is only compatible with android 5.0 ICS and above. But many devices are not compatible with the app. You can check if it works for you. Hit the link below to download.
