Finally the next big version of the loveliest Operating System we have been waiting for and talking about is announced by the Cupertino fruit company, Apple, as expected in the WWDC conference. iOS 6, yes the very latest version to jump into all those variants of iPhone, iPad and iPodTouch is now officially announced by Apple.
iOS 6 is all set to bring some cool features which were in talk and did rounds via rumors. I know you are eager to know, what are the features you will be getting with the iOS 6? Well then let me go through the details of iOS 6 for you.
iOS 6 Full Features
Remember what Tim Cook said when asked about Facebook integration with iOS 6? Stay tuned. And we all did which has finally brought the Facebook Integration with the iOS 6. Yes like twitter integration came in with iOS 5 launch. It’s time Apple merged Facebook with this version of iOS. You now do not need to have third party Facebook application installed on your iDevice. If you are a Facebookaholic then iOS 6 will give you an ease of access to Facebook at your finger tip. This of course was much needed feature of iOS 6.
Now here comes a treat from Apple with iOS 6. The rumors we heard about Apple ditching Google have come true. Apple has introduced their own Maps instead of Google Maps which they have been using right from the beginning of iOS.
The Maps is an awesome feature in iOS 6 providing you with 3D interface and some breathtaking features. Maps or I would say Apple Maps in iOS 6 shows up every bit of details you need. It indeed brings in more details than what you need. And this has been made possible by C3 Technologies which Apple acquired. We will bring more details about the Maps soon as this feature of iOS 6 is what we are more excited about.
Siri in the previous versions of iOS was in the beta mode but now it has come really far and has been updated with whole lot of new features. Now Siri can do more than what you think it is capable of. You can ask Siri to provide you with detailed information about your favorite actor, director or any movie related information. I would say no need of IMDB here. Hear it directly from Siri. This is not it, Siri can tell you about restaurants, sports update, latest movies in town and many more when asked.
Moreover you can also ask Siri to launch your favorite App installed on your device. Tweet directly from
Siri and many more functionality is about to be discovered. You seriously need to use it to discover what it can actually do.
Siri now works with the new iPad /iPad 3
The new iPad/iPad 3 users already have a big treat of retina display and now it’s time to get rewarded again, with Siri. iOS 6 on the new iPad/iPad 3 will bring Siri support. Yes now you can hear the voice of Siri on your new iPad. No more ports or third party app to see Siri in action. It’s official now for iPad 3 users. But yes other devices are still not included to enjoy the Siri power and especially when it’s growing with iOS 6. We hope to see it coming to devices other than iPhone 4S and new iPad in coming days when Siri grows more mature. The new iPad/iPad 3 will definitely be amazed with this new feature of iOS 6.
After Facebook bought Instagram for whopping 1 Billion dollar everyone was wondering why Apple didn’t try to grab the sizzling hot app around. And now the answer is here. They have their own Photo sharing feature now with iOS 6. Now you can share photos right from the gallery. And you share it with the one you want. Simply tap on the photo you want to share and click share.
Photos will be delivered within seconds if the receiving person is on iCloud service. You can also share the photo with non iDevice users. They can simply view photos on web. Now I guess you won’t need Instagram to share your favorite photos.
This is just a beginning of the features of iOS 6. There are many more to discover while we use it. Right now iOS 6 is in beta mode and is not available to users for installation but will make its way to all those iDevices this fall, along with the next gen iPhone or iPhone 5 launch. But to remind you first generation iPad/iPad 1 is left out of this league. They won’t be getting the update on their device.
May be you cannot install iOS 6 officially but the developer version is available for download and we will soon update how to install iOS 6 on your iPhone3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 4G, iPad 2 and iPad 3. And if possible we’ll try to find a way out on how to install iOS 6 on the first generation iPad/iPad 1. Until then stay tuned at GeekPrison for more hot topics.
