Sony Xperia S which is first Smartphone by the Sony without the tag of Ericsson is all set to get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update by the end of this month or early June. This has been officially confirmed by Sony in their Support Forum.
Sony Xperia S which is also a PlayStation certified device by Sony currently runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Some of the Xperia line up of 2011 has already been receiving Android 4.0 ICS update but Xperia S was out of the league. But the words from Sony finally confirmed the roll out of update for Xperia S.
Xperia S is planned to get ICS somewhere around late May/early June. That’s what’s been said and that’s still what we’re sticking to. Any other dates (such as “June/July”) is just speculation.
The roll out is, as always, gradual and will not happen over night for all phones. Some phones might get the update in late May whilst other will get in i mid June etc.
No idea how it’s planned in relation to the 2011 Xperia roll out. All I know is that the latest info I have says that Xperia S should get ICS during late May/early June.
And as far as I know, that plan still holds.
The first device by Sony itself packs some eye catching specs which includes 1.5 GHz dual core Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM, 4.3 inch HD Display with the resolution of 1280 x 720 pixel and much more. You can check out full specs of Sony Xperia S from our previous post. The device is priced at INR 32,000. So if you own Sony Xperia S and have been eagerly waiting to get the Android 4.0 ICS update then wait will soon be over hopefully.
