Anybody who is a wordpress blogger,very well know what is the autosave feature of the wordpress, for those who don’t know, no worry I’ll tell you about it, WordPress Autosave features save’s your post in Draft while you are editing it, it saves your post every 60 seconds.
So incase of failure, at the worst you might lose partial work and not the whole, the Autosave interval is the duration between the two savepoint of wordpress.which is by default set to 60 seconds
But if you feel 60 seconds interval is too much or too less, then you can modify it, doing a simple file edit. To change the wordpress autosave interval follow the steps listed below
Steps 1 - You need to connect to home directory using FTP or using Cpanel, connect whichever way you like.
Step2 - If you are connecting through cpanel then locate and download the wp-config.php file
If connecting by FTP you can directly edit wp-config.php from the server itself,by right click on the file selecting edit,doing this will open the file in text editor.
Step 3 – Edit the wp-config.php
Now you need to make a simple edit, locate the
/* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */
Just before this add
define(AUTOSAVE_INTERVAL, 30 ); // seconds (default is 60)
the above code sets the AutoSave Interval to 30 seconds,by default the interval is 60 seconds, if you want you can set your own interval also,just remember to set interval in seconds,not in minutes or in hours.
Once you done the edited file should look like these
Step 4 - Save the file, if you were editing it using the FTP or upload the file if you have downloaded it from cpanel
