iMessage is an awesome messaging app by Apple. But as we all know one of the very big disadvantages on this app is, you can send limited number of file types which includes messages, photos and videos. Sending more file types will make the app more useful because it is now also available in the OS X Mountain Lion. So the developers Ryan Petrich and Nikos Lykousas united to and developed a Cydia Tweak called “SendAny” and “ReceiveAny”, these are the two different applications. As the name indicates “SendAny” allows you to send any file and “ReceiveAny” allows receiving any file over iMessage.
SendAny when installed on your iOS device integrates with iMessage. It adds a PaperClip icon in place of Camera icon. To send the required file you need to tap on that icon and then a pop up will appear with options Attach File, Take Photo or Video and Choose Existing. Now tap on Attach File option which will open the iPhone directory from where you can select any file type you want to send. You can send the file directly or you can choose to compress them altogether if there are multiple files. Once you select the file will appear in the iMessage screen which you can send.
ReceiveAny installed will allow you to easily open the received file over iMessage. You can simply view or open the file in iFile, Dropbox, Evernote and many more. You can send .deb file on your Mac to your iPhone and then install it directly without connecting the device to make. Isn’t that cool?
ReceiveAny and SendAny both Cydia Tweaks are available in Cydia Store under BigBoss repo. ReceiveAny can be downloaded for free while SendAny will cost you $2.99. Changes and more support will be coming with SendAny in the coming update. So SendAny and ReceiveAny are must have Cydia Tweak if you regularly share files with your friends. You can also check how to share files via Bluetooth with non iOS devices.
