Its been almost 5 months since the release of the Microsoft Windows 8 Developer Preview and many users had been waiting anxiously for any further development about the next flagship operating system. Recently at the an event held in Hotel Miramar at the Mobile World Congress, Spain, Microsoft has announced the release of the Microsoft Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
Unlike Apple or any other major tech company the details of Windows 8 have been received only on the day of the announcement. So now after the release of the Developer Preview we have now a Consumer Preview. So what’s the difference ???
In Windows 8 Consumer Preview we have some new features such as :
- OS-wide spell check, this feature was in demand since many years and finally its been introduced with Windows 8.
- Start preview thumbnail, this is the new Start button and it displays a preview of the start screen on top of an interface that allows you to cycle through all of your open apps.
- The introduction of a new notification center named Flyout.
- boot forward is a new feature which allows users to set boot preference before setting the PC to restart.
After the release of the Windows Developer Preview the total download had reached more than 500,000 within 24 hours and since than has registered millions of download requests. With the release of the Consumer Preview we do expect the numbers to be at par with the previous.
