Its been few months since Google released the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and there are many high end smartphones which have not even upgraded to this OS but the Search Giant is already planning to go ahead with the release of the next OS which is named as Android 5.0 Jelly Bean.
There are about 850,000 Android devices activated each day and about just 1 % of them run on the latest ICS.In an interview with ComputerWorld ,Google’s Hiroshi Lockheimer, who is Vice President of Engineering stated :
In general, the Android release cadence is one major release a year with some maintenance releases that are substantial still.
Going by this statement we can expect the Android 5.0 Jelly Bean to be released by November 2012 as the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was released by November 2011.
Although Google and its team of engineers are working day in and day out to produce the major updates for the ICS and it is being promoted heavily but till now the response from manufacturers has been not that good. Currently there is only one device i.e Galaxy Nexus which comes with ICS pre-installed. Of course there are even more devices awaiting to be released with ICS but the quantity hasn’t matched those figures which can claim to be successful.
Google’s next flagship OS the Android 5.0 Jelly Bean is designed to bring even better experience on Tablet devices. However if the Jelly Bean is released by this November we cannot expect it to be coming pre-installed with devices before mid-2013. This delay between the release and availability may dampen the hype surrounding the new OS. However we always have a very talented team of developers who come up with solution for that.
