Microsoft in the process of making Windows Phone device more secure stripped the basic functionality of sending and receiving files via bluetooth which is a very basic feature of every smartphone. With the availability of Unlocks and Custom ROM’s for Windows Phone 7 new home-brew Apps are appearing frequently with many functions which otherwise are not available in WP7. BT File Transfer is an App for WP7 unlocked devices to share files via bluetooth.
The Dark Force Team, the developers behind BT File Transfer and also some awesome Mango Custom ROM’s have added this most sought after feature for WP7. The App needs a fully unlocked device and not just interop or developer unlocked. Once installed you will be able to share files to any mobile device of any platform. Installing the and using the App is not that simple but if you have managed to flash a Custom ROM on your WP7 device this App wont be much of a trouble for you.
To Install BT File Transfer you first need to flash the XAP file to your unlocked WP7. Once the files are flashed or downloaded using the Internet Explorer you can launch it and check whether your device has been unlocked or not. If the process goes well you will be asked to Reboot your device.
Once done you can now go to Settings and toggle Bluetooth settings and easily pair with other Bluetooth devices. All the files received will be by default saved into the My Documents folder but you can change that in the Settings. Any XAP files received will be installed automatically.
