Finally after many announcements and tweets we have a solid proof of iPhone 4S Untethered Jailbreak. Earlier pod2g, the eminent member of the iPhone Dev Community had released the Untethered Jailbreak for A4 devices, A5 chips have also been introduced into the jailbreak domain.
While the jailbreak for A5 devices namely the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S had a jailbreak but they needed the Apple Developer Account for that to be done and hence could not be released for public. pod2g, had also announced the formation of Dream Team for doing quick work on the jailbreak.
Pod2g posted on his blog:
My friend @DHowett made a video of an untethered 4S iPhone 4,1 running iOS 5.0.1 some days ago.
@DHowett is a famous iOS developer and a member of the Chronic Dev Team.
Only a few to wait now.
Earlier, a member of the Dream Team, @planetbeing, the legendary hacker who had first unlocked the iPhone 4 in 2010 tweeted about escaping from the Sandbox and running unsigned code on the device.
@planetbeing: Finally got unsigned code running on my 4S with the stuff that will go into the new jailbreak!
Although the video clearly shows an iPhone 4S running on iOS 5.0.1 with full untethered jailbreak and running Cydia, there is no ETA for the public release except for just that its just a few days away now.
Hence, we recommend all iDevice users to upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 for any jailbreak possibilities. Or they can save the iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blob as once the iOS 5.1 is out which patches the Untethered exploit Corona, it wont be possible for users to jailbreak their device.
