Apple has seeded the iOS 5.1 Beta 3 to developers for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPad 2 and the third and fourth generations of iPod touch. The build number for the iOS 5.1 Beta 3 is 9B5141a.
The latest Beta weighs about 76.3MB in OTA update. While Apple has not revealed any technical detail about the update only claiming that the Beta 3 “This beta version of iOS 5.1 contains bug fixes and improvements.”
Currently the iOS 5.1 Beta 3 is available for devs only so if you want to have on you need to have a developer account in Apple Developer Website which will cost $ 99 a year. Either you can head to the iOS Dev Center and download the IPSW file or you can get the update as OTA on your device from the Dev Center on devices running iOS 5.1 Beta by opening the Settings app, tapping General and then Software Update.
While Apple didn’t mention much about the iOS 5.1 Beta 3 but as there are many tech enthusiasts who scrutinize each and every thing Apple, have found evidences for iOS 5.1 Beta 3 mentions support for Siri dictation for iPad.
Sony Dickson from 9to5Mac, the famous blog covering Apple, discovered new menu option in the ‘keyboard’ area of Settings.app has a new option of “About Privacy & Dictation”. The information provided does mention that Siri may transverse to the tablet device.
While there is no mention of Siri or the iPad 2 so we cannot conclude a solid point and claim for sure that the iPad will have Siri. So hence we can just say that that the iPad will have Siri dictation.
While iPhone 4S is the only device which has exclusive feature of Siri, but its only common sense that the feature will be taken to the iPad and other future iterations of the iDevices. We can strongly suggest that the iPad 3 will have the feature but who knows what tricks does Apple has up its sleeves.
