We had earlier reported about the Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 which has A5 Dual Core processors which wasn’t having its bootrom dumped yet. Since then iOS users have been waiting very eagerly for an Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 5. Now an eminent member of the jailbreaking community has demoed an Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 5, but before you get very excited this is just a demo video and the public release may still take some time.
The update comes from pod2g – respected iPhone hacker and discoverer of exploits. In a tweet with a link to a YouTube video which has a demo for iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak.
While the demo completely showcases an Untethered Jailbreak there are no other updates about any other developments. We do not know whether it will also jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 or will it be compatible with iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Any developments and details will be reported here at GeekPrison as soon it is announced.
While the Tethered Jailbreak is available since the release of iOS 5 but it needs users to boot to their iOS 5 device by connecting to a computer which has Redsn0w installed. Later, a Cydia package named SemiTether also became available which allowed uses to boot to their device with limited functionality but an Untetherd Jailbreak will provide complete freedom and hence many users are waiting for the public release.
