HCI, a prominent provider of education and entertainment devices for the healthcare industry, has just announced its latest RoomMate television line, an Android powered television line. While we have been hearing many rumors about Apple releasing an iOS powered television it appears that the Android version has arrived already. The television line is available for hospitals only as yet.
As the television is powered by Android it can do a whole lot more than your usual idiot box. Some features include, specially developed apps to browse the web (using built-in WiFi), view photos, play games. While the Android powered device means that there are going to be much more features and functionality and by making new and customize able apps this television is going to take productivity to a whole new level.
The RoomMate TVs, are going to be available in different sizes and aspect ratios. Currently HCI has announced the 22″, 26″, 32″ and 42″ version which can be controlled centrally by the IT staff enabling them to install or uninstall and App.
Along with this some notable features are various input methods, optional 160GB internal storage, and HCI MediaCare integration. The manufactures of this device have claimed this to be
truly the most advanced, most complete, hospital-grade television on the planet.
While the new television is very promising and takes Android to a segment where it has never been, but we still expect a whole lot more form a television powered by Android. The television set is also only for hospitals and hence the general consumer segment has to still wait more for a T.V powered by Android.
