Microsoft is currently working on an iOS version of the popular Office Suite of Microsoft Office bringing Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel to iPad. This application will compete with Apple’s own iWork suite.
Microsoft is going to release Windows 8 in 2012 and with this new operating system it is trying to venture into the field of Tablets which is currently dominated by Apple’s iOS devices. Microsoft has also previously built apps for Mac devices and hence this report of it venturing the iOS arena is not a complete surprise. As far as the price is concerned the Microsoft Office will reportedly be available for just $ 10 for iPad and hence providing as very tough competition to iWork which also retails for a similar amount.
Microsoft Office is the second highest revenue generator for Microsoft just after the Windows series. By entering the iOS field this will provide an even further impetus to the already huge sales of the app.
Apple has its own iWork suite which consists of Pages, Numbers and Keynote. The sales of the iWork suite has also increased over the time and Apple has also made the app available for iPhone users. With Microsoft Office now being available for iPad we can expect boost in sales of both the Office suite and the iPad devices as with this addition iPad will prove to be the ultimate device on the go providing complete solution for its users.
While we have already got reports for iOS devices we do not have any report of the Microsoft Office being available for Android devices. Nevertheless there are already third party apps for both iOS and Andorid platforms which allow users to create and edit Microsoft Office files.
