Chronic Dev Team – the developers behind the popular Jailbreak Tool GreenPois0n, used to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 have released the Tool Of Mass Exploitation, an app, to help them find more exploits for Untethered Jailbreak.
Chronic Dev Team by this app are attempting to do exactly what Apple does to fix bugs and anomalies in their software’s. The program which is currently available only for Mac send iOS device crash reports straight to Chronic Dev Team instead of Apple. Just like how iOS devices send crash reports to Apple Servers to help them fix bugs and patch exploits, this program will send crash reports directly to Chronic Dev Team servers.
From Greenpois0n Blog:
At this point, the program copies all the crash reports off your device (which, under normal circumstances, would be sent right back to Apple), and instead sends this data to a secure, private server hosted by your friendly Chronic Dev team. Next, our program proceeds to neuter your copy of iTunes, simply by changing your settings to prevent your computer from sending any further diagnostic information from your device to Apple.
The program named C-Dev Reporter, basically does two crucial functions. It send device crash reports to Chronic Dev Team servers and it kills iTunes’ ability to send crash reports to Apple so that the company’s engineers in Cupertino don’t patch precious exploits. iPhone hacker Joshua p0sixninja Hill has also mentioned how Apple fixes all the exploits to avoid any further jailbreak support and hence attempt of emulating that same procedure.
While the program sounds like a big step and is very ambitious, the question still remains that should you participate in this Mass Exploitation. Well, many of us are eagerly waiting for an iOS Untethered Jailbreak for a very long time. Despite developers claiming that there are already many exploits present for an Untethered jailbreak and also demoing Untethered iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on video the public release is still not available.
According to many sources, the iOS Untethered jailbreak tool is currently in testing phase and the developers want to make sure that it doesn’t contain any bug. Participating in this campaign will help the Chronic Dev Team to find and use exploits at a very faster rate and also gather enough knowledge and technical information.
The program C-Dev Reporter is currently in Beta phase and is available for Mac only. The developers have also claimed that the Windows and the final version will be available within 24 hours. So keep visiting GeekPrison to know when it gets available.
