Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime and Motorola XOOM 2 both are the two hot Android Tablets, which soon will be available in the market. The predecessors of both the tablets Asus EEE Pad Transformer and Motorola XOOM have had a great war when launched. However there was no particular winner. Both the tablets were competing head to head. And after the success both the companies Asus and Motorola launched the successors recently.
The Asus Transformer Prime has got some huge changes and on the other hand the Motorola XOOM 2 didn’t success to surprise the consumers with its changes. So let us take a look at both the Tablets and who wins this time.
Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime VS Motorola XOOM 2 Comparison
The Asus EEE Pad Prime beats the Motorola XOOM 2 with the first ever nVIDIA’s 1.3GHz Tegra 3 Quad Core processor. The Motorola XOOM 2 packs the running Dual Core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor.
Winner: I don’t have to mention the name here. Tegra 3 processor speaks for itself.
OS (Operating System):
There is nothing to debate on this topic as both the tablets will run Android 3.2 Honeycomb when launched. But the winner will be the one who gets the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich first. Asus have mentioned in the release about the upgrade of ICS for Transformer Prime, but Motorola has no word regarding the same.
Winner: As of now Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime wins, but the game can turn around later.
TouchScreen, Display Resolution, Size and PPI:
Super IPS+ LCD capacitive Touchscreen of the Asus Transformer Prime wins in comparison with TFT capacitive Touchscreen of Motorola XOOM 2. Transformer Prime has resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels with 10.1 inch display and Motorola XOOM 2 has 800 x 1280 pixels with 10.1 inch display. PPI of both the tablets remains same with ~149 ppi pixel density.
Winner: Other than Display size and PPI the Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime clearly wins the race. It has better Touchscreen and Display resolution and these are the most important factors.
Asus Transformer Prime again overcomes the Motorola XOOM 2 with 8MP rear camera with 3264×2448 pixels. The Motorola XOOM 2 has 5MP rear camera with 2592х1944 pixels. AutoFocus and LED Flash are common in both the tablets. Motorola XOOM 2 sports a 1.3MP front camera and Asus Prime has 1.2MP, but that does make a lot of difference.
Winner: Clearly the Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime takes over the Motorola XOOM 2. Front camera cannot make XOOM 2 win for sure.
RAM, Inbuilt Storage and Expandable Memory
- Asus Transformer Prime and Motorola XOOM 2 both have 1GB RAM, so no one wins.
- The Transformer Prime will be coming in with two models, 16GB and 32GB Inbuilt Memory, while Motorola XOOM has 32GB inbuilt Memory. Both of them has microSD card slot that can be used upto 32GB.
Winner: Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime’s 64GB Model wins over 32GB model of Motorola XOOM 2. Other than this, there is a tie between both.
Accelerometer sensor and Gyroscope sensor are common in both the tablets. However Asus Transformer Prime lacks Barometer Sensor.
Winner: Motorola XOOM 2 finally has something that beats Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime.
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, A-GPS, USB v2.0 and HDMI port, all of thse are present in both the Tablets.
Winner: Well the result is Tie as both the tablets have same specs over connectivity.
Battery, Weight and others:
|Tablet||Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime||Motorola XOOM 2|
|Battery||12 Hrs without keyboard dock and 18 Hrs with Keyboard dock||10 Hrs usage|
Winner: Well with battery Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime wins with colorful marks, but is a little bit heavy as compared to Motorola XOOM 2. That doesn’t make the XOOM 2 winner. Battery is what matter most.
Pricing: Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime is priced at $499 for the 32GB Model without Keyboard dock; where as the Motorola XOOM 2 32GB Model is priced at £379.99 ($520). So comparing both the phones the Asus Prime wins with the price also. Prime is more powerful and cheaper as well.
Conclusion: The conclusion goes in the favor of the Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime with no doubt. In most of the part the Prime takes over Motorola XOOM 2. Even the price of Motorola XOOM 2 is higher than Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime. So now you know which one to go for. Motorola should improvise with their hardware to survive in the war of tablets.
