How To Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch using RedsnOw :
The entire procedure to Jailbreak the new iOS 5.0.1 remains the same for what we used to have for iOS 5 Final Version.
Before heading to the step by step tutorial we would just like to inform our readers that the Jailbreak is a Tethered so whenever you will reboot your device you will have to connect it to a device having RedsnOw to boot into the Jailbroken mode. Also when the untethered Jailbreak would be available you will have to restore your device and than Jailbreak as there is no update option for jailbreak.
Also this method cannot be used to Jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
Step 1 : Download the latest version of iTunes 10.5 for Windows or Mac
Step 2 : Connect your device to the computer and backup your phone to be on a safer side.
Step 3 : Head to your Developer Account and download and install iOS 5.0.1 on your iDevice.
Step 5 : Start RedsnOw and go to Extras and than click on Select IPSW option to manually select the IPSW file of the iOS 5 and not iOS 5.0.1. Download links for iOS 5 can be found here.
Step 6 : Now go to the previous menu and select Jailbreak and than click on Install Cydia. You will have now enter the DFU mode by following the onscreen instructions and once you enter the DFU mode the RedsnOw tool will now Jailbreak your device.
Booting into the Tethered state :
As only Tethered jailbreak is applied on your device you will have to connect your iDevice to a computer having RedsnOw installed in order to boot into the Jailbroken mode. You can do easily by going to Extras and click on Just Boot.
Semi-Tethered Jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 :
If you wish to install the Semi-Tether Tweak after the Jailbreak you can easily do so. By installing Semi-Tether you will be able to reboot your device without having the need to connect to a PC having RedsnOw installed. However with limited functionality eventually you will have to boot using RedsnOw. Anyways this is a must have tweak for each and every iOS 5 Jailbroekn device.

The official untethered Jailbreak for iOS 5 devices is not yet available but according to many reports its in its beta state and will be available soon for public release. The iPhone Dev Community have also demoed an Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 and hence we suggest its just a matter of time now.
