Samsung Stratosphere 4G was released just recently and apparently a developer knightcrusader on Rootzwiki forums have already Rooted the device and made a tutorial on how to it.
The entire tutorial seems abit lengthy but follow it closely to get your Samsung Stratosphere 4G rooted. The developers have used the Heimdall – an open source tool for flashing firmware on Galaxy S-based devices such as the Stratosphere instead of the ODIN as Heimdall works on Windows/OS X/Linux.
Also all those users who are rooting their device will need Android Debug Bridge (ADB) toolkit to debug their Stratosphere. If you do not have the ADB you can download it from here.
How To Root Samsung Stratosphere 4G On Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread :
Step 1 : Download the .zip file of Heimdall 1.3.1 [Official Website] and extract the content to a folder.

Step 3 : When your device prompts Download Mode Do Not Turn Off Target connect your device to the computer using the USB cable.
