This may be the holy grail of everything Andorid and iOS. With the world raging in debate about which OS is better the iOS or the Android this may be final showstopping fact. According to many reports iPad users can now run third party Android Apps on their device with ease.
Alien Dalvik , is the port in the Dalvik virtual machine which is the software layer in Android which is responsible for running Android Apps. The creators of the Alien Dalvik project Myriad Group have now announced that are now extending the Alien Dalvik version 2.0 project’s compatibility with the iPad.
As a result you can now download, install and use Android software’s on your iPad running on iPad.
The Myriad Group states :
From a user perspective, Alien Dalvik 2.0 is completely transparent and installed without user disruption. Users simply enjoy the same rich Android ecosystem they have become accustomed to via mobile on other key screens, such as playing Angry Birds on HDTV. This all while gaining faster access to a wider range of apps, thus encouraging a higher frequency of downloads and increased ARPU.
Alien Dalvik encapsulates every Android App in its own virtual machine so running and using them will be very easy and efficient. It will almost feel like you are running a native App.
Its not that iOS is not providing iPad users a good range of Apps for all use. Earlier in the Lets Talk iPhone event Scott Forstall announced that 140,000 out of the 500,000 apps available on the App Store have been created for iPad. While most Android Apps are either free or add-supported may lead to many users downloading and using them.
Myriad Group have promised to show off Alien Dalvik 2.0 running third-party Android apps on iPad 2 at CTIA 2011 next week. So stay tuned for further updates. Also the group have announced to extend compatibility with other platforms.
