JailbreakMe.com, one of the most popular online Jailbreak service which allowed iDevice users worldwide to Jailbreak their iDevice at just a swipe of their finger has been transferred to another domain, the Jailbreaks.me. The Dev Community have sold the present URL to an untrusted source and transferred the service to a new URL.
The new was directly broken by Musclenerd, one of the eminent member of the Dev Community. He recently tweeted about this development mentioning the reason behind this transfer.
Conceited Apps, an iOS and OS X development studio, was the real owner of the domain name JailbreakMe.com and had allowed Comex to use this domain to host the popular service. Now that Comex has been hired by Apple and the service JailbreakMe.com is under the Dev Community the owner of the domain have sold it to an “absolutely unknown, untrusted, and unsafe” owner and as I am currently writing now there is no online Jailbreak service available.
It’s sad @ConceitedApps sold out jailbreakme.com for $$. Luckily we have jailbreaks.me and won’t ever sell out.
@aksansai @conceitedapps the new owner of jailbreakme.com is absolutely unknown, untrusted, and unsafe..in perfect place for iPhone malware
@ModMyiDevices yep, all the web-based JBs will be at jailbreaks.me now. And we won’t ever sell out like @ConceitedApps, guaranteed
MuscleNerd has mentioned in the Tweet that the domain name Jailbreaks.Me is owned by the Dev Community and would never be sold.
We recommend our users to stay away from the domain JailbreakMe.com as the new owner is completely untrusted and as the domain is very popular amongst iDevice users can be used to spread malware.
Comex’s creation JailbreakMe.com will shortly be available in the new Domain and can be used to jailbreak iOS 4.3.3. Comex’s creation JailbreakMe 3.0 was made online in early July and till now has been used by more than 2 million (as of writing the number should be even greater now). Nicholas Allegra a.k.a Comex the creator of JailbreakMe 3.0 used the PDF exploit, a software exploit to apply jailbreak to your device. The PDF exploit was later patched by Apple in the update iOS 4.3.4 and hence making Jailbreak difficult.
JailbreakMe 3.0 is by far till now the only possible way to Jailbreak iPad 2 on iOS 4.3.3.
