Cydia is the unofficial App store for iDevices and one of the sole reason why people Jailbreak their device. Although Cydia has been source of many good things and popular apps there has always been one major problem with it : Organization. Cydia Developer Directory is an easy method which allows you to find Jailbreak Devs and their Apps easily from Cydia.
In the current situation when you launch Cydia you are presented with many Categories and Sub-Categories which makes the process even more complicated. After spending some good amount of time going through the entire variety of Apps and Categories it seems we are almost lost and still cant find what we are searching for.
Developed by the folks at ModMyi, Cydia Developer Directory has a directory of developers who write Apps and Jailbreak Tweaks.
The directory contains a huge list of Developers and their work. There is even a Biography section which tells you more about the poeple who developed the Jailbreak tweak. Also if there are some missing developers who are currently not listed can get themselves and their work listed in the directory if they request.
There are also some eligibility for developers before they can get listed in the directory.
The site ModMyi cites :
Are you a jailbreak developer who would like to be added? We are looking for developers who have released products within Cydia, whether free or paid. We look at each submission manually to ensure that high quality products are listed. Some examples of apps we don’t count are apps built purely with UIWebViews in tabs, unpolished/buggy ‘crapps’, and items which are or promote illegal activity.
As Cydia does not directly fall under a definitive organisation or body, there is not enough systematic approach for better usability. Cydia Developer Directory is surely a step towards making this unorganized system organized. However how much this is going to help and improve experience is yet to be known.
