Apple, the Cupertino giant has today released iTunes Match Beta to Developers in an e-mail sent by them. What more Apple will give this service to developers free for an extra 3 months.
iTunes Match is the service where iOS users can sync their Music Library to the Apple Servers. There wont be any need of uploading thousands of tracks taking the total upload time to several weeks, instead your music library will be synced to the huge online music library containing millions of songs and you can later download them to other iDevices on the same account, hence making the upload a matter of seconds. This was one of the main product launched on June 6 this year at the WWDC. To run iTunes Match you will need to have iTunes 10.5 Beta 6.1 and current version of iOS 5 Beta.
iTunes Match will scan your music library and will sync it to huge online library in Apple servers and push it to maximum of 10 iDevices, so now if you have a song in your iPhone you can easily enjoy it on any other iDevice. If the song is not present in Apple servers you can upload it. No matter what is the quality of the songs in your device iTunes Match will automatically upgrade it to DRM-free 256kbps AAC file.
Annual subscriptions will cost Apple users $ 24.99 per year for up-to 25,000 songs.
Apple has only adviced the developers to keep a local backup of their music library as they have mentioned in their e-mail :
“Apple will periodically reset your iCloud library during the beta and it is critical that you backup your music regularly. Some features and optimizations of iTunes Match will not be available during the beta.”
With the release of iOS 5 nearing, slowly Apple has started to roll out all the feature’s of the product.
