Tethering allows you to connect your iPhone to your Laptop or Desktop Computer and use it as a Broadband Modem to surf the Internet over 3G or 4G network. In this tutorial we will show you how to connect and surf Internet using your iPhone as a Broadband Modem over a Windows or Mac computer. To use this trick on Mac you should have at least OS X 10.5.7 Darwin on your system. You can even receive/send calls or exchange text messages while you surf the internet. To start an Internet session you just to follow these simple steps below.
How To Convert iPhone Into A Broadband Modem
Step 1: Go to the settings menu on your iPhone and General -> Network -> Internet Tethering.
Step 2: Once you have enabled Internet Tethering, now you can connect the iPhone to your P.C using bluetooth (if your computer has it) or U.S.B cable.
To Connect via U.S.B cable :
For Windows : Connect your iPhone to the Windows PC or Laptop using the U.S.B connector that was given with the phone. Once the iPhone is connected go to Control Panel -> Network Services to select your iPhone to connect to Internet.
For Mac : Once you connect your iPhone to the Mac you get a pop-up message saying “A New Network Interface Has Been Detected”. You just to now configure the network settings from Network Preferences.
To Connect via Bluetooth:
For this step you will have to switch on your iPhones Bluetooth. You can do so by clicking on General -> Bluetooth and sliding it to On
For Windows : Go to Control Panel and link your iPhone to your PC using the Computer’s Bluetooth Software.
For Mac : Go to System Preferences and configure your Bluetooth connection.
You can verify it on your iPhone by checking the blue bar at the top of the iPhone Screen which indicates “Internet Tethering”.
That’s it !!!!! You are done with the connection and you can enjoy Internet on your computer using iPhone. Don’t forget to disconnect from the Internet even when you have disconnected from PC as the Internet Session continues even then. You can always check the total amount of data downloaded by going to Settings -> General -> Usage.
If you want to connect multiple devices to use your iPhone Internet you can use the Mi-Fi service instead.
